One thing I love most about HC is that we pray before everything we do. Here the cooks and servers are praying for a dinner of impact with guests.

These boys Jake Hamilton (Left) and Kevin Schmit (right) are known for their ridiculous hand injuries. Funny, but you kinda just want to smack them ๐Ÿ™‚

Probably on of my favorite pictures of all summer… This is a sincere laughing picture where we just felt completely awkward, because Addie proposed that we do an “engagement like” photo. (Johnny is like my adopted brother)

Just some chacos and the mountains ๐Ÿ™‚

Johnny (right), Nathan O’Neal (Middle), and Trace Kolb (Right), are great! They are all completely different men, but each will crack you up till no end!

I can’t get enough of this picture, this is Lacey, one of our wranglers with Miss Babe (obviously the Horse) on western night! The laugh happened at such a perfect time as Babe was trying to model for the camera and smacked Lacey in the face.

“Call me Maybe” has some how made its way into our melodrama as a dance number ๐Ÿ™‚

God is GOOD!

Well everyone I have not posted in a looonngg time. Super sorry about that.

But know that God has been so good! He has been teaching me amazing things through His breaking of me in the last year. I am by no means perfect, but I see God’s Mercy and Grace in a whole new and real way. The last few camps have been amazing, and I met a wonderful woman who should be on a christian version of SNL. Seriously, one of the most hilarious women I have ever met, facials that I could only dream of achieving. (For those of you who really know me, you know that is a big deal.) ๐Ÿ™‚ I will post pics soon of adventures and such that we have been taking and I will put captions with them so you know exactly what was going on.

OH!! So, I rode a bull last Tuesday and bruised my tailbone hard, but it was totally worth it. Last night I was messing around with a blow gun for the first time, and my friends found out they had a mouse. So why not make a production of it and hunt this sucker down? We caught it in a corner and I was the lucky person to be able to hit it.. with a blow dart. I felt super intense. until I saw its little face ๐Ÿ˜ฆ but still I guess you could consider me a serious hunter. 1 turkey, 1 mouse. (obviously sarcasm there)

OK well sorry I am sure that is full of grammatical errors and such but I was in a hurry to write right before lunch! I love you all!

I miss my family really badly, lots of things are going on back home that need prayer so if you could..

Pray for:

* Peace for my mother, as my grandmother is falling quickly to Alzheimer’s.

* Strength. endurance, and fast healing for my grandfather, who just had hip surgery.

*courage and endurance for the Staff that we may be able to serve the last camp with as much enthusiasm as the very first.

* personally: Contentment in Christ, for me to feel Jesus’s constant pursuit, continual time in the word.

ย

Thank you! I love you all!

Until later! TaTa!

Hey everyone! S…

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven’t written in a while. It has been super busy here at camp and my only computer time is to upload pictures or to make a schedule for the upcoming day.

So, I guess I should fill you in the happenings at camp. Last week we had servants week and my family came up to help and hang out. It was wonderful. We have been through a few rough patches this year so being able to work side-by-side was amazing. One of the greatest things we did was Climb Horn Peak ๐Ÿ™‚ Zach and Hannah were our guides and my dad even made it to peak. He is amazing.

ImageImage

It was one of the most humbling and amazing parts of my summer. I hope to climb a few more mountains as the summer goes along.

This week we have a family camp that just came in and our job is to serve them. I was questioning Sarah West’s decision of making me a host yesterday as I stumbled through the announcements and felt as if I wasn’t getting close to the guest (relationships is my main job). Our camp motto is S.W.A.G.G.E.R.

S – Smile

W- Welcome

A – Appreciate

G – Gaze

G – Grip

E – Encourage

R – Restore

I did not feel as if I was “Swaggering” at all. But the Lord refreshed me today. I was able to help a camper out who has been having a hard time with one of her older children. I was so honored that she would share her struggles with me and now I have the privilege of being able to pray for her and her family. It is her first time here at H.C. and I think God is doing great things in her life. I was also able to speak with a family that has a little 4 year old girl from Korea. Her name is Kate and she is the most out-going and loving little girl. ๐Ÿ™‚ Our speaker Andy came to me to seek advice on his sermons and we ended up having a wonderful conversation. Andy is missing his daughter a lot and I am so blessed to be able to hang out with him and try to comfort him as much as I can.ย

My work crew is hilarious and I can’t believe how amazingly we get along. Everyone is like a family and I can’t wait to grow and get into deeper relationships with all of these amazing people!

I would love to write more and more and tell everyone everything, but I have relationships to build!

be praying for us! here is a list of people you can pray for this week

-a young boy named Zach got a concussion when he was rafting.

-Jason is a man who is stumbling and needs God’s direction in his life.

– Andy, our speaker for direction in his sermons

– The staff for strength and diligence in loving and serving the staff.

I love all of you!! Comment on this post and let me know what you want to hear about most!

Hey everyone!

I hope that you are having a wonderful summer! I miss you all dearly, but I can’t say that I want to come home yet ๐Ÿ™‚

As you know, Rachael and I are adventuring to Colorado for the summer. We are working at the Christian camp “Horn Creek” in Westcliffe. Above is a picture from our trip up to this beautiful mountainous state. Rachael needed a hoist but couldn’t get her poor body to corkscrew around to pull herself up! I was rather amusing, not only for me, but also for the multiple truck drivers that drive by. Most of you may be surprised but our trip up was actually quite harmonious. (yes, mom it really was)

Our first stop was in Guymon, Okla. to see our extended family, the Griders. They were so courteous to let us crash on their couch and watch the Thunder DOMINATE the Lakers. We brought a couple of friends with us ๐Ÿ™‚ Image

Fear not! there will be MANY more pictures with these lovely fellows….

We arrived on May 20th and the fun began immediately. We were welcomed with open arms and huge smiles. The last few days have been long and full of THIN thin air! They have been full of great friendships developing and some serious numb butts from sitting in training for so many hours, but in the end we know it will all be worth it.

well that is all I have to offer, I am in the Rec center surrounded by WAYYYY too much for me to continue typing!! love you all more than you know! ๐Ÿ™‚

Not Ready

Above(if it uploaded) is a picture of a young woman by the name of Whitney Erin Miller. At one point I saw this girl every single day and spent countless hours by her side. Some of those hours were spent preparing to cheer at football games, some were spent sprinting our rears off preparing to run in track meets. I have not spoken to her in at least two years and I found out today that she passed away. Whitney was 18 years old and came down with the flu, which then turned into Pneumonia, this led to internal bleeding which was the factor that ended her life. My heart breaks for her family, who I have known for almost 8 years now.

As I pray and contemplate about this I realize that I am not quite ready for this part of my life. I know that you can never be fully prepared for any kind of death, no matter what age. To think that I am 21 and in the past 3 months I have lost 3 friends. Two of which were a large part of my life during high school. Is beyond my comprehension. God mustย be having a huge party in heaven right now!ย I have not suffered from a lose in my own family (Thank you Jesus), but I can only imagine the hurt that goes along with it. My heart breaks for the families that have to go through such a trial.

All in all I believe God is showing me that life is such a short thing. He says that a thousand years is just like the blink of an eye, and although I still do not fully understand that, I am seeing that time flies by and you have no way of stopping it. So, the question is, what have I done for God? I feel as if I haven’t done nearly enough. So from now on the question I will ask myself every morning is “What can I do for God today?” my life is not my own. What can I do so that if I die tomorrow I can walk up to God and He will say to me, “Well done good and faithful servant.”

If I can do but one thing to bring attention to God, that is all I will do. To allow Him to work through me is my cry. What can I possibly do that compares to what He has done for me? His love is astounding. His pursuit of me is relentless. His forgiveness is beyond understanding.

God. Take me. Use me. Send me. Allow me the honor of serving you to my utmost.

As I step into …

As I step into my apartment for the first time it looks very plain. Every wall is white, every door is white, and the carpet, well it is a light beige. The floor is a little squeaky, the windows are drafty, and there is no light in the living room ( which I just learned is common in apartments?) a surprise to me. All in all I am very excited to see what this apartment can become with two women living in it. Mandy Gillogly is my roommate and I could not be any happier with that. Mandy is currently finishing nursing school and has to commute to Tulsa two days a week sadly, but when she is here we always have a blast. As I am writing this she is digging through her cabinet of devotionals to find one that is perfect for my heart and current life situation. What is my current life situation? Let me tell you.

I am taking a semester off from school to regain focus and hopefully start a fire under my rear again for school. I have moved out of a sorority house where I was constantly surrounded by almost 100 women, and moved into a two bedroom apartment with only one roommate. I am having to pay (full) rent for the first time in my life, I work at a wonderful local coffee shop and am looking for a second job to keep me fed. I sometimes babysit two rascals who I love dearly even if they do call me “cool” which, unannounced to me now means: Cranky, Old, Overweight, Lady. Thanks Kids. All these things along with the random stresses of life, but I cannot even begin to explain how happy I am.

Mandy and I have made this small apartment more of a home as we jam-packed the freezer with cheese sticks, chicken, and ice cream, and then unloaded enough mac and cheese to save a third-world country. Along with all the groceries, we brought over decorations and have hammered enough holes in the wall to make the entire complex hate us. A few more extension cords and we will be golden! I just bought a new dresser which is from the 50’s and is gorgeous, I hope it is ready for many moves and a little abuse. I know that when I started writing this there was an amazingly interesting story in the making, but after all my life updates I simply cannot remember what that was.

Oh well, I will blog again soon and hopefully entertain you with my life and many blunders.

Peace, Love, and Lamp Shades.

Blogged Out

I wish I could be creative, and write a blog that amuses and entertains. Sadly, I am creatively exhausted. Throughout the last two weeks I have written multiple papers and blogs, so my creative writing skills are a bit worn out.
We are approaching the end of the school year and studying is becoming my number one priority. Those fun ice cream nights on the random, nope my nights will now be consumed in studying.
When I am not in class I am on my computer, not looking atย Facebookย or Pintrest, but filling out study guides for all my classes.
Any student knows when the end of a semester is coming, because campus starts becoming very empty and the library starts becoming full. Conversations stop being about homecoming festivities and stresses and start being about finals, ski breaks, and final essays.
I’m off. Blank Spaces on study guides never got a girl anywhere.
